Hutt Lagoon (The Pink Lake)

Located near Port Gregory on WA’s Coral Coast, Hutt Lagoon is known for its natural pink hue, caused by algae (Dunaliella salina) that produces beta-carotene. Depending on the time of day, season, and salinity, the lake shifts between soft blush tones and electric pink — making it one of the most uniquely coloured bodies of water on Earth.

From the ground, it’s impressive.
From the air, it’s something else entirely.

This shoot took place during the day under high sun — a time when the lake’s pink is clearest, and the shadows along the edges are crisp, creating graphic contrast.
