The Flying Emu – FPV PID Tuning Assistant Beta

Generate sensible starting PIDs from airframe, weight, props, and conditions. Use as a starting point and fine-tune in the field.

Recommended PIDs

AxisPID
Values are conservative starting points. Make small changes and test hover before acro.

Betaflight CLI Snippet

Propwash / Jello

Try +5 to +10 on D for roll/pitch. If motors get hot or oscillations appear, back off D and add filtering.

Windy Conditions

Bump I by 5–15 to hold attitude, and add a small P increase. Check for bounce-back on flips.

Indoor / Tight Spaces

Lower P and D a bit to keep things smooth at low throttle and avoid oscillations.
These numbers are heuristics for educational use and safe starting points. Always check motor temps, use a smoke-stopper, and tune gradually.

How to Use the App:

  1. Select Your Drone Type

  2. Enter Drone Weight (including battery)

  3. Choose Propeller Type & Size

  4. Select Flight Conditions

  5. Apply to Your Flight Controller (Test in safe conditions and adjust as necessary.)

  6. View Suggested PID Values. Use these value as a starting point. Always fine-tune in small increments when testing in the field.

💡 Tip: Make only one change at a time when tuning, and always test hover stability before attempting aggressive maneuvers.
