This video was filmed using an FPV drone for smooth, immersive movement. FPV (First-Person View) drones allow us to maneuver with precision, diving, climbing, and flowing through space in ways traditional drones can’t. On this particular evening, the golden-hour light reflected beautifully on the water — and just as the drone approached the wide curve of the shoreline, a group of pelicans lifted off from the surface.
Instinct kicked in. I matched their pace, flying slightly behind and beside them as they glided upward. The moment was fleeting, but the footage was unforgettable — a rare intersection of wildlife and tech, where storytelling took over and the drone simply followed.
The end result? A unique perspective on one of Perth’s most iconic natural settings, told not from a distance, but in motion.
